On September 25, 2025, the World Rowing Championships, organized by the World Rowing Federation, was held for the first time in Qingpu District, Shanghai, China. A total of 1,203 athletes and coaches from 55 countries and regions participated in the event. Fu Ling, a student majoring in Sports Training (Class of 2023) from the School of Sports and Health Engineering at our university, represented the Chinese National Rowing Team.
In the final of the women's lightweight double sculls event, Fu Ling and her teammate Zou Jiaqi stood out with exceptional performance. From the start, they took the lead, maintaining a stable and powerful rowing rhythm with highly efficient coordination. They controlled the pace of the race throughout, ultimately clinching the gold medal with a time of 07:26.12. With this victory, they were crowned world champions and secured the first gold medal for the Chinese team at this World Championships!
Our university has always placed great emphasis on the educational role of sports, believing that sports enhance intelligence and nurture character. This achievement will serve as an opportunity to further deepen our teaching practices.
